Manual Optical Receiver for Fibre Optic Remote Triggering of DS Strobes (Non-Pre-Flash)
This Manual Optical Receiver allows an Ikelite DS-series strobe to be triggered by any camera flash or strobe flash. The Converter attaches directly to the strobe’s electrical bulkhead in place of a sync cord connector. It supports manual strobe exposure modes only; TTL is not supported.
One Receiver is required per strobe. It is compatible with all Ikelite DS strobes and supports flexible remote-lighting configurations for underwater or topside use.
Fibre Optic Cord Triggering
The removable fibre optic port allows attachment of a compatible fibre optic cord for reliable optical triggering.
Remote Triggering
The enlarged slave window provides approximately 90° field of view for remote triggering. The included fibre optic port may also be threaded on for fibre optic activation.
Creative Lighting Options
The Receiver can be extended using an optional 1 m or 5 m extension cord for creative backlighting in wrecks, caves, pool studios, or topside photography.
Connector Material
This model features a hard-anodised aluminium connector. For older strobes with nickel-plated brass (silver-coloured) bulkheads, an upgrade is recommended to prevent seizing between metals.
Non-Pre-Flash Use
This is a non-learning sensor requiring the camera to be set to manual flash mode. It will not operate with pre-flash systems. For camera systems that rely on pre-flash, alternative Receivers are recommended.
Camera Compatibility
This Receiver is intended for use with LED flash triggers or when remotely firing a DS strobe with a DSLR or mirrorless camera. It is not suitable for pre-flash camera systems. Recommended alternatives include:
- For most Olympus, OM System, and Panasonic cameras: RC1 Olympus & Panasonic TTL Receiver
- For compact digital cameras including Canon G7X-series and Sony RX100-series: Pre-Flash Learning Receiver
- For Canon TT5 TTL Transmitter: RC2 TTL Receiver
High-Speed Shooting
Photographers using a DSLR or mirrorless camera with a Nauticam fibre optic converter shooting at 4 fps or higher will find this Receiver ideal. The fibre optic port supports Ikelite, SEA&SEA, Olympus, and selected Nauticam fibre optic cables.
